UMILL 1000: The powerful multifunctional machining center

With the introduction of the new UMILL 1000, EMCO is strategically expanding its range of simultaneous 5-axis universal machining centers, creating the ideal bridge between the UMILL 750 and UMILL 1500 models. The new model was developed to meet the growing demand for versatile, compact, and powerful solutions that combine milling and turning operations in a single machine, opening up virtually unlimited application possibilities.

HALLEIN - TAXACH. Resulting from the synergy between the expertise of the Italian subsidiaries EMCO, EMCO MECOF, and EMCO FAMUP, the UMILL 1000 represents a logical technical evolution of the proven UMILL 750 model. The project was developed as a concrete response to market needs in terms of high productivity, application flexibility, and easy integration into automated production lines. The highly rigid gantry structure, made of cast iron and welded steel, ensures excellent thermal stability and allows combined turning and milling operations on a single machine. Thanks to 55 mm roller guides on the X and Y axes and direct drives on the linear axes, as well as torque motors on the A and C axes, this universal machining center ensures precise machining even with complex workpieces. The large working fields (900 mm in X, 1,000 mm in Y and 700 mm in Z), the large rotation travel of the A axis (+/- 125°) and a load capacity of up to 1,000 kg complete the machine's profile.

The electrospindle with 15,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 138 Nm, for a power of 38 kW, with HSK-A63 interface as standard, allows for effective chip removal and high-quality surface finishes.

The UMILL 1000's tool magazine is equipped as standard with 30 stations, expandable to 60 or 90 depending on needs, with quick change and random management to optimize times and increase operational autonomy. Other magazine types are available upon request.

Despite the large working ranges, the design remains modular and compact, allowing complex workpieces with diameters up to 1,000 mm, heights up to 600 mm, and a maximum weight of 1,000 kg to be machined in a single setup. The ergonomic design and numerous customization options of the UMILL 1000 enable easy integration of automated systems, optimal chip evacuation management, and easy maintenance—essential factors in the intensive production environments of forward-looking companies.

Thanks to standard optical scales on the linear axes and direct measuring systems on the rotary axes, the UMILL 1000 guarantees minimal tolerances and excellent surface quality. The direct drives on the X and Y axes enable high acceleration (6 m/s²) and rapid feed rates (50 m/min), ensuring maximum precision and movement dynamics.

The UMILL 1000 is available with the latest Siemens (Sinumerik ONE) or Heidenhain (TNC7) control technologies. The ergonomic, tiltable and swiveling control panel ensures optimal working conditions for the operator.

Like all EMCO machines, the UMILL 1000 is developed and manufactured entirely in Europe, using components from leading European companies, guaranteeing high quality standards, long-term reliability, and concrete technological added value. This new EMCO solution is aimed at workshops and production departments oriented towards high-added-value machining: from mold and tool making to general mechanics, the automotive industry, and precision subcontracting. The UMILL 1000 fits perfectly into contexts where productivity, precision and versatility are fundamental requirements.

New range of chain tensioners from norelem

Three sizes, maximum flexibility, precise tensioningWith multiple sizes and clamping force options, robust materials, assembly aids, and retensioning options, the new range of chain tensioners from norelem effectively meets virtually every requirement in mechanical engineering, from confined installation spaces to highly stressed chain applications. Chain tensioners are used in a wide variety of machines and systems. Their main function is to compensate for the progressive elongation of the chain due to wear and tear, ensuring constant tension. This increases the service life and reliability of the chain drive. The norelem chain tensioners operate in an oscillating, elastic manner: this prevents excessive surface pressure, while the overall force resulting from the weight of the chain and the centrifugal force in the free chain run is optimally controlled. Installation is simple and ideally performed immediately behind the drive wheel to keep the free chain run as short as possible. The chain tensioner housing is made of plastic or steel; stainless steel versions are also available for more demanding requirements. The sliding profiles are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene PE-UHMW. Norelem offers solutions for every clamping requirementThe robust size TS is supplied as standard with a plastic-coated, galvanized steel housing, with a choice of curved or elliptical profile. The clamping system is equipped with two preloaded compression springs. These springs can be released individually to achieve three levels of clamping force:Only right spring released: High clamping forceOnly left spring released: Low clamping forceBoth springs released: Extra clamping force The compact size 0 is available in two versions with different clamping forces: low spring force (58-32 N) and high spring force (132-60 N). The compact design makes this tensioning system the ideal solution for installations in confined spaces, and thanks to its plastic housing, it is completely corrosion-free. The versatile size 1 chain tensioners are available in two versions with different tensioning forces and in two shapes: low spring force (174-32 N), high spring force (396-60 N), shape A (short housing), and shape B (long housing).Extras include a color scale for a quick visual check of the chain tension, and various fixing brackets and slotted holes for easy adjustment and compensation for alignment errors.

Industrial annealing furnace: what it is and what it's used for

When we talk about industrial furnaces, we tend to think of a single category of machinery, but in reality there are numerous types, each designed to meet specific processing needs. A key example is the annealing (or solution-heating) furnace, widely used in companies in the metalworking sector. What is an industrial annealing furnace? The annealing furnace is a machine designed for the heat treatment of metals, particularly austenitic stainless steels, known for their excellent mechanical properties and resistance to corrosion. The process involves:1. Heating the metal to a high temperature.2. Maintaining the temperature for a predetermined time.3. Rapid cooling, usually by air or water. Thanks to this cycle, the treated metals improve their characteristics, acquiring:•    greater resistance at both room and elevated temperatures,•    improved corrosion resistance,•    maximum resistance to oxidation.Types of Annealing FurnacesThere are different configurations of annealing furnaces, which vary according to the type of production:•    Continuous furnaces: equipped with conveyor systems using belts made of high-strength alloys or rollers (also made of ceramic, for high-temperature processing with greater energy efficiency).•    Batch Furnaces : Ideal for non-continuous production or for specific components such as fittings, sinks, pipes, or turbine blades. This variety allows us to meet the needs of various sectors: automotive, metallurgy, design, and special processes.Other Heat Treatment FurnacesIn addition to annealing furnaces, the sector offers many other solutions:•    brazing furnaces,•    sintering furnaces,•    tempering furnaces,•    Reheating furnaces for forging. Each has specific characteristics and fields of application, making expert support essential when choosing.SABE Forni: Consulting and Customized SolutionsIn such a diverse landscape, relying on a qualified partner is the key to obtaining the industrial furnace best suited to your needs.Sabe Forni is an international benchmark in the design and construction of custom industrial furnaces. In addition to sales, the Treviso-based company offers a specialized consulting service to guide companies in choosing the most suitable machinery, ensuring efficiency, quality, and reliability.
