Norelem is expanding its range and now offers a compact and energy-efficient alternative to pneumatic cylinders: electric cylinders, or more precisely IO-Link servo actuators. They are ideal for all applications in mechanical engineering or medical technology where precise linear movements are required.
Norelem electric cylinders combine a brushless servo motor, a servo controller, and a ball screw in a single housing. The IO-Link interface allows real-time setpoints to be transmitted and speeds, accelerations, and positions to be variably changed, even for complex servo-controlled positioning tasks. Alternatively, a simple digital control, like a pneumatic cylinder, is sufficient.
A modern, high-performance drive solution
The devices require no additional space in the control cabinet. Speed and force limitation can be adjusted directly via a rotary knob on the housing. The dimensions of the electric cylinders are based on the ISO 15552 standard and are compatible with existing connection components and accessories.
Two sizes for different needs
The electric actuators are available in two sizes and with the following characteristics:
Size 60
- Screw pitch: 5 or 10 mm
- Stroke: 100 / 150 / 200 / 300 mm
- Speed: up to 600 mm/s
- Force: up to 800 N
- Power supply: 24-48 V
- Service life: up to 10,000 km or 20,000 operating hours
Size 80
- Screw pitch: 5 mm
- Stroke: 100 / 200 / 300 mm
- Speed: up to 300 mm/s
- Force: up to 1500 N
- Power supply: 24-48 V
- Service life: up to 10,000 km or 20,000 operating hours
The advantages of norelem electric cylinders
Electric cylinders, and in particular the IO-Link servo actuators, offer a Superior precision, energy efficiency, flexibility, and diagnostic capabilities compared to pneumatic cylinders.
Servo actuators enable highly precise positioning and can continuously achieve any stroke position and motion profile. They can be parameterized, monitored, and directly diagnosed via IO-Link. Thanks to their compact design, they are easy to install and require only a power supply and an IO-Link cable. Fewer wearing parts also mean less maintenance. They operate in a controlled, energy-efficient manner, are self-locking at rest, and are therefore significantly more efficient.
